Multilevel Sub-Categories with images from main screen

When you click on a category image on the front screen, I would like to see the sub-categories as it appears on the standard web page with their icon images.

Currently you can only show main categories but when you select the item it only shows the products in the combined sub-categories and not the sub-category icons.
